Finally, I wrote something...! "Movin' On"

So, I finally went out today, in a burst of productivity and bought some new guitar strings. (See the previous post for details.)

Anyways, I got them home, and put them on, and started feeling creative, so I finished writing the lyrics to this song I've been working on for a while. Then I figured while I was at it, I might as well record it quick, so I don't forget how it sounds in my head.

So here it is, "Movin' On.
I pour the coffee into her cup
she says half full is good enough
bus pulls up to the greyhound sign
down the street from this place of mine
I've seen her face almost every day
since he stowed his luggage cause he was...

Movin' on: doesn't always have to be like this.
Movin' on: cross rocky waves and rolling hills
Monin' on: the past glares out of a coffee cup
Movin' on: these are growing pains, this is growing up.

Through the glass you can see behind
to the sunny tree where they'd unwind
now the place is a empty lot
the world moved on, the gang forgot
after drinking a couple of years
they feel their roots tug, they've been...

Movin' on: That empty lot is calling to them
Movin' on: They've had pains, and they got through them
Monin' on: the more things change the more they stay the same
Movin' on: trace your roots and see what you became

I pack my things, I'm moving on
take care of this place here while I'm gone.
I've seen a lot of faces cross this line
and it's about time one was mine.
I'll stow my luggage and buckle up
before you know it, I'll be...

Movin' on: some place new is just around the bend
Movin' on: it's always hard to leave another friend
Movin' on: no one here gets out of this alive
Movin' on: the best you'll do is only to survive

Some of the singing (and guitar...) is pretty rough, but that's something that will come both with practice, and when I make up my mind how exactly I want to sing the "moving on" chorus parts.
